7 Ways to practice self-care on a budget
You don’t have to hurt your wallet to prioritize your emotional, spiritual, physical well-being. Check out our 7 tips on how you can practise self-care on a budget!
1
Always cover the basics first
Before rushing into expensive self-care routines, you might want to check-in with yourself to see if you're meeting your basic needs:

2
Visit the library
If you love to read, but don't love the cost of books, libraries are a great way to enjoy your favourite authors for free.
3
Clean & Organize
If you're someone who gets stressed or anxious working or living in a cluttered and disorganised environment, taking time out of your day to clean is an act of self care that may feel healing rather than a chore you don’t want to do.

4
Invest time in a hobby
Hustle culture's got us thinking about how to monetise everything we do outside of our day jobs. Trying out hobbies and sticking to one you enjoy the most without the pressures of turning it into a side hustle can be freeing for your mental health.
Have you gave yourself time to do something you truly enjoy recently?
5
Learn to say "no"
If you're a people pleaser, this one's for you. Instead of giving in to others at the expense of crossing your own boundaries, learn how to say "no".
You might find yourself less energetically drained and upset with yourself when you skip a party or social event you didn't want to go to. You might find that your wallet is more full at the end of the day too!
If you're thinking "I should..." or "I have to..." instead of "I want to...", that should be a sign that you might want to put yourself first.

6
Reduce your screen time
You've probably heard this too many times but it really works.
If you find yourself constantly comparing yourself to people online in a negative light, a social media cleanse might help. Either unfollow creators that don't inspire you or just simply stay away from scrolling mindlessly for hours on end.
If you have problems with self control, there are native and third party apps that can lock your phone for you once you reach your budgeted screen time.
7
Get outside!
There's always so much to explore outside, from hiking trails to free museum exhibitions. Exposure to nature not only makes you feel better emotionally, it contributes to your physical wellbeing, helping us to reduce anxiety, brooding, and stress.

BONUS TIP
Pet your void deck cat!
If you love animals, but don't have your own fur friend, this is definitely one of the best motivators to get you out of the house. Get some air and some companionship along the way
